I want to get this out before I start my '68 Petty RR. I plan on building it as a street version with a few twists. I will use the 440 with the hood scoop, racing rims and slicks, tan interior and sublime green body color. I also will be using the lift kit for the rear end. It'll be "almost street legal. The slicks strike me as wider tires with no tread more than real slicks. I always wanted a muscle car with the rear jacked up and chrome or chrome reverse rims as a kid. ---John

I pretty much already built this as most of the parts are identical to the Pro Modeler '69 Dodge Charger Daytona I just built as Tiny Lund's NASCAR ride. I have lots of these same parts in my spares box!---John

The headers seem to line up good with the exhaust. The exhaust
pipes have a lot of flex also.---John

Oh yes, very clean and very nice work. I bought this kit thinking it had a hemi to do a nascar build. Oh well, I can probably find one in my stash somewhere.

The decals are on and the engine complete. I don't think that
decal on the air cleaner top is going to set down much better.
It was made as a disc and the air cleaner top is a dome. I've
applied solvaset several times but it is what it is.---John

and dash. The body will be Testors lacquer spray sublime green.---John

Oh good I bought the kit and so far never opened it to see what's in it. Question? Whats the difference between a Dodge 440 and a 340 v8 visually? I was thinking of doing the Dick Brooks Daytona Charger but it had a 340 in it because the hemi and the 440 were outlawed in it at Daytona 500 where Brooks drove it.

I guess ill have to find a 1971 model of a dodge or plymouth compact that comes with a 340 v8, I dont remember what they were called . maybe a dodge demon or a plymouth duster. If they even made kits for those cars back then.

The AMT 340 Duster has a pretty nice 340 in it. I think it is a current reissue from Round 2.

I have some interior and chassis painting started. The chassis is
Model Master sublime green lacquer, same as the body will be. The
interior is Tamiya spray TS-46 light sand with a black rug.---John

That green would be hard to miss at a car meet. Laughing

It's looking good, did you use paint or flakes for the interior floor?

Yes, it is a highly visible chartreuse isn't it. The interior floor was sprayed with Tamiya "rattle can" matt black TS-6.---John

The trim is done and the windows are in. Body to chassis
next. The foil looks a bit wrinkled to me, I am thinking the
edges around the windows had a touch of flash, they didn't
seem smooth. Not too bad for my first attempt.---John

I burnished the trim more with a kleenex, looks smoother, still not overly
impressed. The body is now sitting on the chassis. Radiator, drive train,
rear end and suspension next.---John
