You should open a thread on painting instruction. Without fail, your work is nothing short of dazzling.

Struggling strivers like myself would probably learn enough to bravely share our builds with the wider world.

Absolutely beautiful! Were the body mods as easy for you as I made them out to be? I mean, they look perfect, just wondering how much sass the body gave you. Smile

beautiful as always. What do you do to get the wheels centered in the wheel arch. I've built an Oldsmobile and a Monte Carlo and the wheels are a little off. What am I doing wrong?

Yea i bought window screen for like a patio door and i cut it to size, then used thin strips of tape for the boarder and painted it white primer. I used a weathering kit to dirty it alittle

Yes it was easy to follow and the body sanded really nicely. There was a few things i didnt have the bravery to try yet tho. Thank you for the tips!

Thanks for the reply. I think I'm putting them in the right place at least according to the kit. If it was just the front or just the rear I'd think it was me screwing up but both are off a little. Also the front tire set to high up in the wheel well I guess I need to try a different spindle. Again thanks. Your model are really, really good. Keep up the good work. As far as paint goes I used Tamiya paint, pure white, McClaren orange and Italian red. Looks close to me

Not anymore. Every paint company has switched to water base with a 2k clear. Unless its an exotic color would be solvent based.

I'm seeing this on most boards. I'm getting the impression most folks don't know, because they were never told there's no mention in the instructions. The wheel wells on the Salvinos original kits like the Olds and Monte, are designed to be adjusted, opened, moved back and forth. This is why they look a little odd and small. You still need to find the chassis notch that works for you but, it's a simple matter to eyeball where the wheels will be to tie that down. then make your cuts to the wheel wells. I hope this clears up any confusion on that.

They really are trying guys. Jim the designer spent most of his career making toys like action figures so, this is all new to him although, I think he's picking up the learning curve quite nicely. The acquisition of the Monogram molds (Which was my suggestion) Smile was a really good move for them. Should their own product line fall off in sales, those kits will keep the company afloat until they retain their footing. I hope that doesn't happen but, you never know.

thanks again. so use to the Monogram kits I've been painting the bodies before doing the chassis. I can see where cutting the wheel wells would make a big difference. I like there kits specially the subject matter. Can't wait for the Lemans. Thanks again guys, you guys models are superb.

I meant back then.... For these Cale cars.
I know that is true for today.

Ok, when did they start the water based paining on stock cars??

When every paint manufacture like axalta and ppg switched to it. I think around 2014 is when that might have started
