Started this one a few years ago and finally wrapped it up earlier this week. I never liked the look of the early 90's Monogram T-Bird and the back half of it just looked off compared to the real Yates 28. Got the idea to lop the nose off and mate it to the updated 94 Monogram T-Bird. Filled in the roof and cowl flaps, used the glass from the older body, and added the speedway back window and trunk rails. The 28 ran 10 hole American Racing wheels; I added the dual line by scrapping the paint from a set of blue molded wheels, chucked the wheel up in a drill, painted the red, and then cleaned up the outside edge painting black. AMT exhaust, Mikes decals, and TS14 on the body and TS8 on the chassis.
Thanks for looking,

I have done the same thing,... But I made mine Ernie Irvan's first run at Darlington 1993. The body is just painted and descaled... I have to finish the kit |

Very nice work! I heavily massaged an 89-93 body to do mine, but I think yours produces a better finished result with probably about the same amount of work. |

Very nice build, but i have a question... where did you get the information about what type of wheels the Yates team ran? Wondering for my future builds. This is the reference pic i have-
And i just watched the replay of the 1994 Brickyard 400 and when they showed Ernie’s blown tire that cost him the win, it was a Bassett with a single red stripe. Did they switch for 1993 only? _________________ ON DECK/IN THE WORKS: too many started to list...

'93 pic from what I believe is Michigan
'93 Daytona
'92 Indy tire test
American Racing street steel wheel
Since they were 10 holes on the 28 and had the blue and red stripe I went with my gut and figured they were American wheels. _________________ Joe Oteri
