My project to build as many of the 1988 NASCAR Cup cars is going slowly but I added another one.
Ricky Rudd's 1988 Buick. Box stock build with Penngwen tires transfers, Tamiya green paint. The decals are a mix of many sheets as none of the sets I had were 100% correct. I had to make the gold stripe, Cady, JNJ and other decals finished it. Thanks

Nice looking car, and interesting way of defining your collection, by year! Looking forward to the rest of the field!

Very nice build. Were the headlights chrome in the kit?

Great looking car, I tried to click on the link to see the others you have done. It asks for a password?

Nice! Like the snappy green color, not seeing too many Olds or Buicks lately as they have gone the way of the dinosaur.---John

Great job Dave!! You have any missing links from the 1988 project? 1988 was such a bittersweet year for me, as far as NASCAR went. Bobby won the 500 at Daytona, plus the Goodys race, and a 125 mile qualifier. Then his career ended in June. But it was an exciting year. The new Olds, Buick and Pontiac bodies were all distinctively different and cool to boot. Plus I seem to recall a new paint scheme on a #3 car. Man...the good ol days.

Planning ahead I see a few cars I will have to make the decals for. I may do a few of the cars that ran limited but right now looking at teams that intended to run all races. Thanks

I have a number of reasons for picking 1988.......
1. I am a (was) Bill Elliott fan. He won the Cup title in 1988.
2. It was a great era with so many well known drivers from a few eras.
3. NASCAR has not had as many manufactures giving factory support as it did in 1988.
4. Kit and decal wise almost all of the cars that ran the entire season are available and cheap today.
5. The company I co-owned (1984-1997) was a NASCAR license holder so saw all the cars, met teams and drivers. I got to met many folks and made friends. Lots of positive memories.
6. Beer, tobacco, snuff all kinds of bad stuff that the PC police had yet to ban.
Thanks
