Billy Scott # 16 and Don Bumgardner # 92. FYI..The "Y" in the G.Y.R. was Robert Yates.

Have to admitt didnt know Don Bumgardner, first thought these were
Grand American cars, but after a little internet research found out the 92 was a big winner at Concord And metrolina speedways.
Nice when the local and regional stars get the recognition they deserve.
Good job !!! |

Thanks guys!
Don Bumgardner was one of the top late model drivers in the Charlotte area in the early 1970's. Unfortunately, he had a terrible crash at the old Concord track (the one seen in the Last American Hero) driving a Mustang where he actually went out of the track and into the trees. His injuries ended his racing career. |

Always upload with the medium size option. Flaws in the model building don’t
Show up as much
Lol
But then with these dirt track stormers we could always say we worked hard
To add the flaws all the short track cars had anyway !!!
No need for perfection ... |

Gary,
Did Don drive an old Petty 62 Plymouth early in his career?

Not to much information available but:
Don made one Permatex 300 start and that was it for him and Daytona.
Didn’t see him as making any Grand National attempts.
