On Mike’s? I sure did. It was a little different printing out an order form and mailing a check, but i went ahead and preordered a 2+2 kit and a Kodiak decal set. Hopefully here by the first week or two of April. Curious to see who all did the preorder and how many they ordered.

I've got seven on order. Combined shipping with a good friend. Two are his, 5 are mine: 27 Kodiak, 75 Valvoline, 23 Hawaiian Punch, one for the 27 Alugard I already have decals for, and one for any future decal releases.

Got an email from Mike today stating that the order shipped. Guess that answers the corona delay question.

I've had a generation off test shot of this for a few weeks now. All I can tell you is what I told Jim. He left me nothing to do with this one. NOTHING! I was so happy! The profile looks great, the nose is awesome and includes the '87 spoiler as a separate part and all four grilles. The new hood is awesome and the rear window is phenomenal.

On the other hand... I've also had a test shot of the flat Monte nose. This one... this one, eh. You guys will decide for yourself if and where you want to do some sanding but, I defy anyone to not find one part they want to change. It's a true block carving. l Laughing I'm pretty sure he's done some work on it before now so, it's not nearly as bad as I'm saying. If I can find it I'll post a shot. Here's the pre-production 2+2, one generation out. You'll not a bit of chubbiness around the midsection. This has been taken care of and the rear window shelf has been added. I apologize for the fuzzy Monte nose pic, I have to find it and post a new one.

For some reason they included 3 rear spoilers. I'm assuming that this covers both Grand Pix as well as the Monte.

AtW, any idea whether the rear window shelf is a separate piece or will we be masking the body off to paint it if it’s a different color from the body?

I remember asking him that very question because I thought the same thing, it should be a separate piece. Alas, I'm pretty sure he said it was part of the body. Still, should be a fairly easy mask.
I'll also mention, in the same conversation we discussed a couple ideas for figures for you diorama guys so, keep an eye out for something that I don't think has been offered in a 24th scale figure yet. Smile

I have two kits on the way.
In my opinion this is a very important venture to support. It could open the door to some other interesting projects.

Correct......Salvinos took the early GM based chassis (Mt Dew Buick) and cloned the 83 Pontiac body but updating it to 87 2+2 type body.
Looks like the best Salvinos kit.....yet!

Got my 2 kits in the mail yesterday!! I like that the "chrome tree" isn't chromed. Couldn't help but chuckle at the fact that it had the '81-'85 Pontiac nose, Monte Carlo spoiler, and Buick headlight covers too. Laughing

Yeah, spares aren't going to be too hard to come by. Wink You may wish to put one away sealed though... might not be a continuing thing.

What I'm saying is, this might be the only run with that many extra parts. The test shots I recieved show the extra spoilers may remain, but the extras like the Monte nose may not.

Methinks you may be correct, AtW... from Mike’s Decals website listing for the 2+2:

Salvino wanted to produce this kit at some point, but new tooling was needed. We stepped in and made a deal to create and exclusive kit which paved the way for the production of the new parts. Salvino will have different version of this kit at a later date, but the Mike's Decals Exclusive Release is a one shot deal. When they are gone, they are gone. Thanks to all our customers for you support!

All I'll say is, mine go in a specific, fire proof closet. (No Abby, I did NOT make a fire proof closet just for models!) (I did).

You guys have no idea how hard all this is on me! I know so very many things I'm not allowed to impart, and I am 100% a died in the wool, wholehearted BLABBERMOUTH! Laughing But about this I can say, this exclusive is just the tip of a gigantic, styrene, iceberg! (Paint and cement not included, some assembly required)

I only have a few minor complaints... at this point, just from looking the kit over and not working with it

The rear shelf is attached, woulda been nice for painting purposes if it was separate.

The headlight recesses need to be painted black, woulda been nice if there were inserts (for ease of painting) like the 1980s Monogram Montes

Those front bumper thingies... also supposed to be painted black, woulda been nice if they were separate pieces.

All that being said, i am happy to have it. These 3 items are workable. Just not as easy as they could have been made. Not bashing the kit at all.

I agree with the package shelf. I advocated for a separate part. I would use black BMF or decal to do the headlight sockets but, I honestly thought those inserts would be there, I'm a bit surprized. The bumper guards... will be a bit of a booger. I also feel like they might be a hair large.

The separate grilles are pretty nice.

Some folks buy the 1983 Thunderbird kits just for the 5 hole wheels. Both type wheels were legal and often changed week to week.

Any 89-93 T-Bird has the 5 hole wheels. Hell they have the whole 83 T-Bird chrome sprue in those kits.

Mine just landed at my door!!!! 2 days service from Mike!!!
While a plastic toy may seem insignificant in todays world....but Thanks Mike for allowing me to get my mind off things for a little while. Mental health is just as important.
God bless all.

EDIT: Just a quick look through the kit. Most of us know the Monogram 1st gen GM chassis and that's here intact. The chrome tree is NOT chromed....a good thing in my book. Body and nose look very good. Separate headlight doors would be good....but I will print some decals for my builds. Nice bright white plastic. This is Salvinos best effort yet IMHO only. Thanks for Salvinos and Mike's as he played a big part. BTW....the Lake Speed decals are really nice too.
