Have decals from 1989 (kit decals). I typically will spray them with a coat of clear before applying to prevent cracking. Any other tips or advice to prevent the milky white edges or yellowing?

i've heard of hanging them in a window so sunlight hits the sheet...that is supposed to clear up the yellowing...

i have done some crazy things to get one decal...soak it off the sheet...very carefully cleaning the crud off...putting it on a clear sheet of decal paper...setting it with clear spray...yada yada...

that was all for two contingency decals...

The window trick does work. I tried it with some vintage slot car decals. As for the milky edges, I would trim as close to the color as possible and use a setting solution.

I sometimes squirt some windex (the clear kind) into a puddle on a cutting mat. Then after soaking a decal in hot water, I place the decal face down and spray more windex on top to cover. Then I take a q-tip and gently brush the back of the decal, all the way to the sides, from center out..you have to be careful and use your fingers a bit here and there ..but it works for me.
