Just saw a crawl that announced that he's passed at 56 from colon cancer. Definitely, the most underrated Andretti-a Modified guy who started at Dorney Park, ran Indy 12 times, won in Stock and Indy cars, and also could run a T/F Dragster. RIP |

I saw a story online that said he was a better man than he was a racer and he was a damn fine racer. A perfect tribute. _________________ Dennis

Met him at a NJ supermarket back when he was driving for The King.
He signed for me my unbuilt # 43 Cherrios pro finish kit. I do remember how humble and friendly he was.
Will be missed.

John was my driver, through the good and the bad races. I had met him a couple of times and it never ceased to amaze me how courteous and friendly he was. One time when I met him he just got the Cheerios sponsor and it was chilly and damp out, the line was decently long for such crappy weather. When I finally got up to meet him, he shook my hand and asked me my name, and how I was doing. It helped that I had Andretti gear on lol. After he signed my poster, the model I made of his first NASCAR ride, and a die cast #50 Budweiser car he drove for 1 race, I asked if it was possible if I could have a picture with him. He said "of course it's possible", I proudly walked behind the table and put my arm around his neck and he put his arm around me like we were best friends. Then he asked my ex if she wanted a picture as well, she was dressed in Jarrett gear, of course she didn't smile like the scowling hag she was, but at least he took the time to pose wit a fan of another driver. Sorry for the long story, but it just shows what kind of man he was. Forever RIP Mr. John Andretti, I will miss you badly. FYI, I live about 8 miles from Dorney Park and about 15 miles from Bethlehem, PA where Mario and Michael live. _________________ Would love to have time to finish but I have kids:
