Whatever it is, it's well done and honors an era and a driver. I'd like to park it in my garage....

Cool piece. Where did you see it?

Just found it researching for the kit parts. I guess I could have gone to the page huh? Apparently it appeared at an auto show in Oklahoma.

“This 427-powered Malibu was on the pole six times, including the Daytona Firecracker race and Talladega, and had two wins including Riverside and North Wilksboro,” Hajek said. “Bobby recently drove the car at the Food Lions Speed Streets event at the NASCAR Hall of Fame. The only Daytona 500 Bobby ever missed, he was in Ames, Oklahoma, at the Hajek Motorsports Daytona 500 party.”

A few issues I see as different than period photos: Both bumpers painted body color, no sheetmetal on B - Pillar or rear side window openings, newer Goodyear tires, Competition Cams decal.

Looks like only minor differences, bumpers look tucked in on the race car, not unusual......and to me the number '12' on doors are low. I'd own it!

Well OKAY !!! Embarassed I guess there's a prototype for everything !!! Those are the first pics I've seen of Bobby's 1973 Malibu with painted bumpers. Looks like stock fender openings too.

I think that's the chassis restored from the Allison car Jeff Handy bought in the mid '70s. Bobby sold off all his stuff when he signed to drive the Matador full-time so there were several Allison chassis in Cup and several more former DiGard cars that had been built in Hueytown that Darrell Waltrip made them sell when he signed on to replace Donnie. It's not a great restoration, as noted. More like a tribute that happens to have been built on a genuine chassis.

The wheels look to be late eighties/early nineties NASCAR wheels. Similar to the ones in the early Ford kits. The original wheels from that era look to have smaller slots.
