I am working on a scale model of the Team Associates 73 Pontiac Grand Am car fielded by the Herb Adams team. The Petersen Archives have a ton of photos from Riverside and Daytona and I have been in contact with one of the team members for details. I believe someone here was working on decals but can't remember who. Any Help? Thanks! I can't get my photos to upload but I do have some.

Beautiful work Doc. The proportions look perfect. Waay above my pay grade though! I'm also really impressed with the plumbing, A-N fittings, and under hood and rear compartment treatment. Could you share some chassis details with us? Did you cast the dash or is it a donor piece?

The dash and body I cast myself. The basic chassis is a Revell 66 GTO. It has a lot of detail in the suspension. I will post some of the chassis pictures. It was not a "standard" chassis. It used a stock frame and a short truck arm rear suspension but the whole car was remarkably stock-down to the steering column and wheel! |

What did you use to create the decal sheets, if I might ask? |

I have not finished them. Once I get the body done I will be able to test fit. _________________ Bill Jobson is my real name. |

I did get to see that car race, sort of anyway. Daytona 1973.
One of the 125 mile races was about to get
The green flag when that odd looking Pontiac
Came blasting out of the garage at the last second.
Car looked very stock down to the factory looking
Black paint.
Certainly not a typical grand national of the era .
Really just did not fit in at all to what we were used
To seeing. Must not have made many laps, once the
Race started it was forgotten and not seen by me
Again.
I do remember a comment from Chris Economaki
About this Pontiac, "only car I ever saw that made sense
Of NASCARs spagattie roll bar system".
Never got a look inside but what ever was in there
Must not been typical NASCAR...

After spending a lot of time on suspension futzing with the inspectors, it blew a head gasket in the qualifier. _________________ Bill Jobson is my real name. |

Yep, according to Racing Ref. Gerald Thompson completed 13 laps in the 2nd qualifier.

Roger Penske was quoted as saying "They are going through what we went through last year." (the '72 Matador campaign). Also, Herb Adams and the Racing Associates team were pretty much out of funds at that point. Penske had the money to keep going. _________________ Bill Jobson is my real name. |

Is there another way to post pictures directly from my drive or do I have to use a file hosting service? |

This board does not host pictures. You need a service or ask someone to host them for you. There are free services or perhaps someone will volunteer. _________________ Dennis

I had the decals done for me by Speedway decals. He does foil printing. Some people use an ALPS (I think that is correct) printer to do foil graphics. His work was impressive. Someone on the Model Car board referred me to him. I have him working on a different car now. |
