What is everyone using for Earnhardt's Goodwrench interior red. It seems to me it was Chevrolet engine red, but that was a long time ago.
Thanks |

Chevy engine is a red with a orange tint. Tamiya Ferrari red seems to work well....what I used anyway. |

I was told by someone restoring a Goodwrench car that when they did a computer match on a sample from the interior it came back as the same as Ford Poppy Red. It's definitely very orange in person. |

DupliColor #DE1607 Chevrolet Orange-Red. This is the same color I use for Poppy Red. Testor's Bright Red #1231 is almost indistinguishable from the DupliColor DE1607 but in my experience, the DupliColor sprays better and lays down better. Also, I found out the hard way on my very first DE build that if you don't use a bright enough (orange enough) red for the interior, once the body is on it, it looks WAY too dark and kills the look completely.

Thanks John...That was the same problem I had with the first DE car I did.
The red just didn't look right. I was around that car hundred's of times back in the day, but that was many, many moons ago. |

It WAS many moon's ago!!! I was in NASCAR licensing 1980 to 2000. My kids grew up around the sport. My youngest son was born in 86 and is now married with 4 kids......has it been that long!!!! I just finished a DE Sr 1988 MCSS build for my 'Project '88'. Building it made me realize how long it's been.....but the cars sure were cool!!!! |
