Gentlemen. For all of you who have been waiting patiently for new parts I'm sorry for the delays.

I have recently had a mild heart attack and a bypass. I am back home now, resting. Thank you all for your patience.

Speedy recovery!
I had a mitral valve repair a couple years back, and am familiar with the experience...they gave me a special pillow to hug when I needed to cough. Keep it handy!

Make your cardiac rehab appointments, watch your diet and all that stuff. I too had "an unfortunate cardiac event" six years ago. I got away with just a stent. Stay the course......

OW! Guys this is pain like I've never felt before! I was cool until the dilauded wore off. And yes, they gave me a cute little pillow shaped like a heart. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Both are probably painful...I recall having a dreaded fear that I would need to SNEEZE...

My grandfather had a quadruple bypass in 1990 and they gave him a teddy bear - "Sir Coughs-A-Lot," I think its little T-shirt said - to hold against his chest when he had to cough. Whatever they did, it gave him a quarter-century he wouldn't have had otherwise (and when he passed, it wasn't due to his heart).

I'm sorry all this has happened to you, but I hope you are very much on the mend. Take care of yourself and take your time. You are your top priority now!

THANK YOU to you all!!

Yes, sneezing was a hooge fear. I have allergies as well and my medications give me a dry mouth and throat. Abby has been pretty great about keeping me supplied with cough drops and liquids. The kids have been really great about leaving me alone. (So happy!) And I now have a cat permanently attached to each foot.

I don't know if it's actually permanent but, every time I open my eyes, dut-dut-duuuuhh there they are. More than a little disconcerting if you ask me.

A few days ago doc said just a few more days and I'm allowed to attempt driving. I said what do you mean by "attempt"? I've been driving for decades now. Doc said "You'll see." I did. And I'd just like to say NO FAIR springing something like that on a new heart patient! Left turns... amiright?

Either way, I'm walking and talking and should be able to feed myself and use the big boy potty in no time. KIDDING! (I use the big boy potty when she's not looking)

Cheers all, and thank you for the support! Smile

While I was recovering and not allowed to drive, I was also not allowed to ride in the front seat (to avoid an airbag situation - yikes!)

So my wife would drive with me sitting in the back seat, she calling me "Mr. Daisy."

Glad you are recovering well!

Hoping all came out well!

Firefly- They said I could ride in the front, but ONLY if that air bag was turned off. Even then they weren't too happy with me. Apparently they can still go off even when switched to off.

Good news! I am 100% cleared by my cardiologist and family Doctor! I passed inspection, now let's see if I can qualify!
