Original mostly unpainted build from AMT annual kit of the 1969 Torino
The original (sorry if the pic is not clear/sharp, taken with a Kodak X-15 instamatic camera)

1st "update"

final update around '74

Tires & wheels from scrapped Malibu Modified Stocker
Slapped some paint on most of it during this last rebuild.
Did not want to lose the decals on the sides, so the body sides are still bare plastic.
It's also what happens when you cannot find a kit you want to build....rework old ones.
This was done BEFORE AMT released the Torino Modified Stocker version...

Nicely done. That's using your ingenuity and parts on hand to produce something you want. We all did builds like this before we had the means ($) to collect many kits, aftermarket parts and decals to build something we wanted.

Back then I don't think there were any aftermarket parts or decals like we have today, thanks to the internet!

Auto World is the only place I remember you could order decals etc. I got so excited when I got a new catalog in the mail!

Herk's Auto Body!
I not-so-fondly remember the AMT kit decals - they were thick, and not spot-coated, so you had to cut close to to the artwork.

Can I ask a dumb question? Why did you take the early pictures on your roof?

MarkJ.....I was wondering when someone was going to ask that question. Not a dumb question by any means....that roof was over the bottom of the stairs that led to the basement of the house I grew up in, so it is not all that high up.....You can see the start of the slope up to the "back" door. Have some pics of that house, but all are prints, not in digital form. And with working with a then fairly new Kodak Instamatic X-15 point and shoot camera, this roof was the right height where I could stand to take these pics....

Forgot to mention that the raised part of the hood on the later re-build is the kit hood scoop reversed....to clear the air cleaner

One drawback of the Instamatics was the depth of field. You couldn't get closer than maybe 4 feet from your model, or it came out blurry...

Yep....that's why those individual pics are taken from so far away.......
