StocKCarFever decals. Worked well with just warm water.

Larry Flynn was from a small town near Daytona Beach. When the big track was
built he ran the Permatex race for a numbers of years. Before that he raced on the
Daytona Beach sand course & most of the dirt tracks up and down the east coast.
During the late 50's & early 60's he was a regular at the Jacksonville Speedway half mile clay
track, driving modified coupes. My neighbor was a car builder/mechanic.
Remember see Flyns's #14 in his garage on occasion.
Flynn kept heading further south. Still driving at least into the late 80's when he was
sidelined by an injury that I believe was unrelated to racing.
As far as I know he made his living racing. Mostly drove his own cars, and always
used the #14.

Based on a sportsman car Flynn drove in the 1955 race on the beach. Being numbered
7X would make me think he was not the car owner. Made from a mix of parts
I had in the junk box. The body in revell & the frame is AMT. Don't know
what kit the flathead motor is from, but it has a long transmission, not the short one seen in most kits.
Flynn also drove (and wrecked) in
the 1955 Southern 500.

Not much on the inside of these sportmans. Mainly stock. Most had a rollbar.
From what I could see from the few available pictures, 7X had at lease this many bars.

polecatdecals.com was going to make the decals. Have done decals for me
before including the #9 modified coupe shown in one of the pictures. But
never received the PayPal invoice and email communications was difficult.

In the meantime I had finished the model and was looking though
slotcarfever.com list of decals and found the 7X. Plesant supprise to say
the least. The #7 car in the three car photo I posted is also SlotCarFever
decals. Place to go for modified/sportsman decals....

Just these two pictures to work from:

Larry Flynn in the crash helmet & goggles to the left. Fancy drivers suit
of the 50's...

Larry fell out of a tree, messed up his back very badly...
(from what I've heard..seen him in the yard w/a back-brace on)

He race alot at Barberville...( Volusia County Speedway now)

I wish I had taken pictures of his stuff back them..
(Since I live about 2 miles from his house)

Don't we all wish we had taken more pictures. But there there
is lots of information & pictures available on the internet.
In his obituary (died 2007 at age 77), he was listed as a
Lathe operator as well as racing. Racing up and down the
East coast for 30 plus years don't know how he ever found
Time for a working man's job.
But glad he make Jacksonville his "home" track for a time.
At least it seemed that way to me...
