KS: It's a beautiful sunny day after yesterday's rain and we are ready to go racing! The engines have fired and we are ready to go racing. Welcome to the Roebling Raceway in Georgia for the Fritos 150. Joining me in the booth today is the 1999 Winston Cup champion Dale Jarrett standing in for Darrel Waltrip who is covering the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race in Texas. Dale, What can we expect in todays race.
DJ: Well Ken, we've got a green race track today so there will be a competition caution at lap 15. Up until that point we're gonna see these drivers being very conservative. Making sure they don't use up too much of their tires after all the rubber's been washed off last night.
Green Flag
KS: We are underway here in Georgia for 75 laps of Fantasy Cup Series racing!
DJ: And we see our 2nd place starter Bobby Dravin in the 44 Skoal Bandit getting a good start over poll sitter Rob Stofel.
KS: They thunder through the first set of turns. Stofel being hung out to dry as he's also passed by the 46 of JR Sealey and the 13 of Terry Grant. Dravin with about a 3 car length lead heading into turn 3.
DJ: And Ken at a place like this you don't have a lot of time to relax as a driver. Only that one long straightaway. The short chutes before and after 6 and 7 may be straight on the map but trust me, you don't drive'em that way.
KS: And Bobby Dravin still leading as they fly out of turn 7 onto that 2nd short chute. He'll put about another car length on the Chevy of JR Sealey through turns 8 and 9 and have a clear path to leading the first lap.
Lap 15 Caution
KS: And the yellow flag waves for the competition caution. Bobby Dravin being anything but conservative had opened up an 8 car length lead over JR Sealey and Terry Grant.
DJ: And it looks like it's gonna be 4 tire stops for the whole field.
Restart Lap 17
KS: Back under green. Trish Grant who surprisingly took only 2 tires leads Bobby Dravin into turns 1 and 2.
DJ: And that decision was made right as she was pulling into her pit stall. Father and Crew Chief Donald Phillips calling that last second audible and his daughter has about a 2 car length lead as they round turn 5.
Lap 24
KS: Trouble in turn 7. 2 cars off of the racing surface. It's the 13 of Terry Grant and the 87 of Rob Stofel. No caution. They gather it up and continue on. They lose a ton of positions now running about mid-field.
Lap 39
DJ: Dravin's gonna make a big move to the inside of Trish Grant out of turn 9.
KS: Dravin back to the point.
Lap 63
KS: And we've got a smoker on the track. Cisco Rosander in the 93. The engine clearly expiring late in this events. What a heartbreaker for that team.
White Flag
KS: One more lap to go. Dravin with a 5 car length advantage over the 46 of Sealey. Throught turns 1 and 2. Sealey closes the gap by a car length.
DJ: Razorback Vs. the Sick Freak. Sounds like a monster movie, Ken. Sealey closes another car length out of 4.
KS: And he's going to continue that trend through turn 5. He'll cut Dravin's lead down to 2 car lengths.
DJ: Now getting TO him and getiing PAST him are 2 different things as we seehim close that gap even more out of turn 7.
KS: And Sealey to the bumper of Bobby Dravin in turn 9. He makes a move to the inside. Dravin closing the door on the straightaway. He will win the Fritos 150 at Roebling Raceway! What a fight between these 2, Dale.
DJ: I think if this were a 76 lap race, those results would be reversed. The 46 was on his way.
KS: And for the 3 year streak for Razorback Motorsports at the road courses has finally been broken. As we take a look at the rest of the results for this event.
1. 44 - Bobby Dravin
2. 46 - JR Sealey
3. 7 - Trish Grant
4. 73 - Larry Fine
5. 6 - Darth Vader
6. 13 - Terry Grant
7. 87 - Rob Stofel
8. 15 - Hick Strutlin
9. 93j - Jeremy Rosander
10. 98 - Lee Loggins
11. 93 - Cisco Rosander (Out)
DJ: Ken I really wasn't expecting the 73 to march up through the field the way he did.
KS: And the winner of the last 2 road courses, Hick Strutlin, managing to gain a few spots after a dismal qualifying effort on Thursday.
DJ: But great job by Dravin in the 44. L.A.P. 1 racing with back-to-back wins.
KS: And with that, we thank you for joining us today. For Dale Jarrett, I'm Ken Squire. We'll see you next week on the dirt for the AC Delco 100 at Nodak Speedway! |
