I have a photo from 1976 Martinsville of Donnie's car beside of Bobby's matador. The color looks more maroon and Bobby's Red. I went to the Charlotte Hall of Fame and the car was red? Anyone know if the car was Dark Red (or Marron) or Red? 77 Laguna and the 78/79 Oldsmobile.

The actual color, according to people who worked on the car, is '60s Ford Candyapple Red. Same color as the Wood brothers roof, but without the gold pearl clear that the Wood Brothers applied.

The best spray can match is Testors Flame Red in the Model Master Lacquer line.

I agree with both lionpride and Tom. Just a dark red. I favor the Tamiya TS-8 Italian Red spayed over Tamiya Fine Gray Primer. Just my personal preference. I've used both brands and both the Tamiya and Testor's will work just fine for this car. I have used the Testor's Flame Red for some of Bobby Allison's early '60s Late Models. Good luck!

Agreed. I had a friend who lived just north of their factory in Ormond beach florida (might have just been offices). Anyway there were always a couple cars sitting outside in Hawaiian Tropic trim, but they were both Monte's and street cars. Anyway it's not a bright red like fire engine or blood red. I tried to duplicate it on a diecast with gold foil paint and anodizing red. It was good but I went one coat too far.
