|

I need to ask you guys for some help. While I'm finishing up Terry Labonte's Piedmont car I decided to start another car. I would like to know the correct color interior, chassis, and roll cage color for Harry Gants 1981 Skoal Bandit Grand Prix. I seen a few photos but its hard to tell if its light gray or white. It looks white. Also what whould be your suggestions on wheel color? I seen photos with them silver and and I've seen them with gold.
Thanks,
Eric

I always thought the inside and chassis on that car was the same color green as on the body, less the usual in black items like the dash and padding inside, and components underneath. Then again the only close up look I got of the car was the pre- race parade at Daytona so that could just have been the show car. _________________ "Dude, it's not Camelot... it's only a model." think by late 70s early 80s and on all interiors where grey. _________________ If you bought it a trucker hauled it.

A quick cruise through my copy of the UMI NASCAR 1981 Yearbook confirms that all the Skoal Bandit cars pictured, including the # 22 of Stan Barrett, and the # 33 Pontiacs & Buick, had a light grey interiors with black dash board top & roll bar padding. |

A LOT of cars into the late 1980's were not gray. Most famous was the #3 in Chevy engine red. Ranier cars were orange. Johnson's cars had black in 1981-2 and then a deeper red chassis in the BUD years. Lots of different colors before required gray. . |

I recall one of Bobby Allison's 1988 Miller Beer Gold Buick Regals still had the RED Interior of the 1986 Miller LeSabre, probably a re - skin by Stavola Bros. Racing. |

As Dave said, Earnhardts chassis was red for most of the 90s. Same for Robert Yates cars. Dale Jarretts 96 Daytona Winner is in the Talladega museum and has a Red Chassis. I think by like '98 all the cars were grey.
I believe Dale Jarretts 2000 Daytona 500 winner had a red chassis as well. |
