Black was not a popular color when the cars
ran mostly at night on tracks with poor lighting.

But even cars painted black were (generally) painted a brighter
interior color, or not painted at all ...

AMT 39 Ford. Ron Coon tires/rims. Chevy V8 engine.
Testors spray paint. Evergreen plastic for the bumpers, roll bars etc.
