MCW Auto finishes has an airbrush match for that car. If you do not use an airbrush, ask if he can put it into an aerosol can. Hope this helps.

Mr. Hobby makes great primers also. I still have some of a large can of MCW light gray and it is excellent too. It also will cover and protect well when thinned like water to avoid covering details.

The Salvinos 80's cars go together well and there are decals for so many versions to build. They would be a good start IMHO.

Use a good automotive primer, I crazed a body pretty bad doing it years ago. I use Duplicolor and MCW, and occaisionally Tamiya and so far so good without issues.

1957 Mercury Persimmon, actually an orange in sunlight. The blue is 1957 Mercury Pacific Blue Poly. There were different mixes of the blue so year make is important.

I see your decals are yellowed. They may be brittle and even breakup. lobographix makes a great decal for that car and it is reasonable also. Good luck.

I have never used the Tamiya clear as my friends say it will eat decals. But I always thought it was silver flake in it, don't know for sure.

The Starsky & Hutch Torino has a 351 Cleveland with it. That was the engine used until the SVO engines were used in the early eighties.

Try decanting into a glass jar. Then stir it a few minutes to get the aerosol boiled out enough to spray through an airbrush. Guys on youtube are doing it with great results.
